Joint Master's Degree Program in Intellectual Property and New Technologies

Programme details

The second-cycle Master's studies in English consists of three semesters:

  • 1st semester: distance learning (e-learning)
  • 2nd semester: in-person classes
  • 3rd semester: MA seminar, internship, defence of the thesis

Curriculum

The curriculum offers the opportunity to acquire comprehensive knowledge relating to current issues related to the impact of new technologies on intellectual property law, including the following courses:

  • Patent Law (including the WIPO DL-301 Patents e-learning course)*
  • Trade mark law and allied rights (including the WIPO DL-302 Trademarks, Industrial Designs and Geographical Indications e-learning course)*
  • Copyright Law (including the WIPO DL-201 Copyright and Related Rights e-learning course) *
  • Introduction to EU Law *
  • New technologies, Ethical, Social and Legal perspective *
  • New technologies and patents Copyright in the digital age
  • Commercial communication
  • English in IP matters
  • Resolving IP and Technology Disputes through Mediation and Arbitration
  • Digital content
  • Privacy and personal rights on the Internet
  • ISPs liability
  • Protection and licensing of software, databases and computer games
  • Infringements of IPRs in the field of new technologies
  • Jurisdiction and choice of law on the Internet IP overlaps
  • Future law for next technologies
  • New technologies, Patents and Human Rights
  • Protection of Big Data

Classes conducted by lecturers from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Jagiellonian University and leading foreign research centres (Germany, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Spain, the United States), WIPO experts and practitioners in the new technology industry
