2020 Kraków Intellectual Property Law Summer School Online Edition

The fourth edition of the Krakow Intellectual Property Law Summer School, organized by the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Jagiellonian University, took place from September 14-18, 2020. This year the summer school was exceptionally held online. It was attended by more than 100 people, representing over 30 countries (both from Europe - including Poland, Germany, France, Italy, Hungary, Ukraine and other continents - including India, the Philippines, Oman, Nigeria, the United States, Canada) - students, doctoral students, trainees, academics and practitioners interested in intellectual property protection issues.

This year's edition of the summer school was devoted to issues of quality of formal and informal protection of intangible assets (IP Quality). Lectures and workshops were given by prominent scientists from Polish and foreign universities, including the Technical University of Munich (Germany) and the University of Nottingham (UK). Among the lecturers at the summer school were also experts from WIPO - the World Intellectual Property Organization, EPO - the European Patent Office and EUIPO - the European Union Intellectual Property Office, as well as experienced lawyers from the law firm Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP (Germany) and the Barta & Kaliński law firm (Poland). The cirucullum also included workshops to develop critical practical skills for lawyers - presentation, argumentation, and writing and publishing texts on intellectual property protection.

This year's Summer School Partners were: the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland, WIPO, EPO, EUIPO, Barta & Kalinski law firm and KOPIPOL Association for Collective Management of Copyrights of Creators of Scientific and Technical Works.

2019 Kraków Intellectual Property Law Summer School

The third edition of the Krakow Intellectual Property Law Summer School, organized by the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Jagiellonian University, was held from September 16-21, 2019. The theme of this edition was the problem of cumulation of protection in different regimes of intellectual property law (IPR Overlaps).

Lectures and workshops as part of the School were given by prominent scholars from Polish and foreign universities, including Texas A&M University School of Law (USA), Harry Radzyner Law School (Israel), ZHAW School of Management and Law (Switzerland). In addition, lectures were delivered by experts from WIPO - the World Intellectual Property Organization and EPO - the European Patent Office, as well as experienced lawyers from Bardehle Pagenberg Law Firm (Germany), Barta & Kalinski Law Firm and CD Projekt RED (Poland).

The program was attended by more than 80 participants from almost 30 countries - students, doctoral students, trainees and young practitioners interested in intellectual property protection issues.

This year's Summer School partners were: the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland, WIPO and EPO, and Barta & Kaliński Law Firm.
